Ces actions concerneront la lutte contre le VIH/SIDA et le paludisme, et cibleront en priorité les pays suivants: Burkina Faso, Bénin, Burundi, Cameroun, Congo, Côte d’Ivoire, Maroc, Mali, Togo, pays de la zone de l’Océan Indien.

Call For Applications For The Selection Of 10 Regional Advisory Commitee Members

The term of the first RAC members selected in 2008 has expired and been renewed for one more year. The recommendations of the last RAC meeting held in Accra, October, 5- 7, 2010 according to the texts ask for a renewal of that body at the 2/3 of its members.

In this light, the call for application is been launched for the recruitment of 10 new members for WATAG’s   Regional Advisory Committee. The concerned countries by this call for application are: Burkina Faso, Cote d’Ivoire, Gambia, Guinea Conakry, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Togo.

Is it worth trying to recover "losses" from "ineligible" and "undocumented" expenditures - as identified by the Office of the Inspector General (OIG) - from grants in the early rounds of funding, considering that these losses occurred some time ago, and the fact that, at the time, the Global Fund and the implementers were in "emergency mode"?

At its meeting in December 2010, the Global Fund Board approved the launching of Round 11. At its meeting in May 2011, the Board discussed but did not change this decision. Therefore, in August 2011, Round 11 was launched, and many CCMs devoted enormous amounts of work to preparing their proposals. Then last month, in November 2011, the Board cancelled Round 11.

Those were the main points of the passionate speech given by Stephen Lewis, Co-Director of AIDS-Free World, at the plenary session on the second conference day of the 2011 International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA).

This decision will cost lives and cripple international efforts to deliver on health-related goals, breaking promises made to some of the world’s most vulnerable people, and punishing the Global Fund's success of the last ten years.
